As you may be aware, as of July 1, 2024, the Florida Legislature has implemented new board education requirements that all board members must meet. I understand that this change may seem daunting, but building a strong foundation of knowledge is essential for your role and greatly benefits the community.

As of July 1, 2024, Florida law mandates new board education requirements for all condo and homeowners association board members. Compliance is essential for maintaining a healthy and functional association.
What Are the Requirements?
- Condo Associations:
- Within 90 days of election/appointment, board members must:
- Submit a written certification confirming they’ve read and will uphold governing documents.
- Complete a 4-hour approved educational course covering inspections, elections, financial literacy, and more.
- Complete 1 hour of continuing education annually to stay updated on legal changes.
- Within 90 days of election/appointment, board members must:
- Homeowners Associations:
- Within 90 days of election/appointment, board members must:
- Complete a DBPR-approved course focusing on financial literacy, recordkeeping, and meeting requirements.
- Fulfill annual education requirements:
- 4 hours for associations with <2,500 parcels.
- 8 hours for associations with ≥2,500 parcels.

Meet Deadlines:
- Elected after July 1, 2024: Complete education within 90 days of appointment.
- Elected before July 1, 2024: Comply by January 1, 2025, or within one year of election, whichever comes first.
